Kansas City International Dragon Boat Festival Rules for Cultural Showcase Tent Hosts

There will be about 10 tents at the Dragon Boat Festival this year to be hosted by Chinese cultural- or international-related non-profits to showcase the cultural diversity and global aspect of the Kansas City area.

While there is no fee for the tent, we would like to ask you to follow the rules listed below:

  1. We have invited your organization because you have helped promote the Festival, you are a sponsor, your mission aligns with ours, and/or you are a partner in our other activities. Please do not invite other organizations or groups to host your tent without our permission.
  2. The Festival will begin at 10 AM and finish around 3:00 PM, depending on the pace of the dragon boat races. We require all tents to be staffed for the entire duration of the Festival. Please do not wrap up or tear down your tent until instructed.
  3. Each tent should have interactive activities to engage Festival visitors. Ensure that your activities do not interfere with or disrupt other tents or Festival activities. Please follow Festival Officials' advice if asked to stop any activities.
  4. Each tent is about 10’x10’ and will be provided with one long table and two chairs. If you need additional seating, please bring your own lawn chairs or other seating options.
  5. You are not permitted to sell any items at the Festival, whether for profit or as part of a fund-raising effort.
  6. Please arrive before 9:30 AM to set up the table of your tent. We rely on volunteers. If you can help set up tents, please arrive at 8 AM, and stay after the Festival to help tear down.
  7. Betsy Chung is in charge of tents and the stage performance. Please communicate with her if you have any questions or concerns (betsychung@yahoo.com).  In addition, Jim Wilson will be coordinating activities at the street level on the day of the Festival. Please follow his instructions.
  8. Please provide your contact phone number so we can reach you if needed on the day of the Festival.

Thank you for being part of the Dragon Boat Festival. We look forward to your participation.
